So I was sitting there, minding my own business by reading chapters and omakes in NuraMago Volume 19, when I, a well known RikuTsura fan, stumbled upon this.
Seriously, if this omake was translated while the Manga was still on-going, we would not even need to wait for 210.5 to definitely confirm the ship XD
And yes, those are Male Kyoto Youkai dressed as schoolgirls. Hagoromo Gitsune decided it. Do not question, you lowly humans -_-
It’s been almost two years and I still can’t find out why the fuck Nurarihyon no Mago ended so suddenly. I only have two ideas.
Maybe the ratings went down enough that it was cancelled, but it was still popular enough to get an ending.
Maybe the author wanted to do something else. (Although Illegal Rare honestly isn’t all that different.)
Either of these would have been fine if they hadn’t announced a special Nurarihyon no Mago project for January 2013, the month after the final chapter of the manga was to be released. It’s nearly 2015, and I never heard shit about a special project after that. Then again, maybe I wasn’t looking in the right places.
Does anyone have any good information regarding just what the hell happened?
What really bothers me is that Ibarakidouji and Kidoumaru’s defeat is never shown at all. It’s not even implied. They’re just not there anymore after the Spiral Castle falls down. I think people just assumed they’re dead, when there’s no indication that they’re anything at all. I feel so unfulfilled, and that shouldn’t be. There’s a Tsurara dakimakura, for fuck’s sake. This series gave me everything I wanted except for closure about this one specific thing. You can’t just dangle two of the most important Oni is Japanese folklore in my face and then make them disappear.
Not sure what exactly you mean…
After the final chapter in the Magazines, which was ch207, they announced that the Manga would continue in Jump NEXT. Those are ch208, ch209 and ch210.
Then there are the two OVA’s packaged with the final two volumes, first one showing us the story of how Setsura left the Nura Clan and the second one showing us how Nurarihyon started the Nura Clan.
The last Tankobon had five specials that served as the real epilogue to the story, better known in western fandom as 210.1, 210.2, etc.
And then there is the Ryuuji oneshot that lasted for three small chapters. Is this maybe what you meant? If yes, I can find the images and translations.
After that, there were no new NuraMago stories nor any announced projects. Hope the list helped clear it all up someway.
As for Obaraki and Kidoumaru, I think the last Tankobon confirmed them as killed… although not visually. The last Tankobon only drew death of Ariyuki, Yosuzume and Enchou and even that as bad quality (if you want, I can repost the images).
I colored the last panel of the last page of the manga.
I make no excuses.
Hagoromo Gitsune from NuraMago and the Scar City Mayor from Illegal Rare (without the wig and lens)… even Japanese caught to their resemblance ;P
"The first time I saw the image of Zoroark, I immediately noticed the similarities between that Pokemon and Rikuo Nura (the main protagonist of Nurarihyon no Mago, a manga by Hiroshi Shiibashi). Both of them have illusion-related power, dark attribute, and that fancy super long hair^^
I wanted to put them together in a painting with Japanese traditional style, and here is the result.”
